Box League Black Holes

Brad Dragland has played more box league games than anybody in our network.
The first thing every box league player must understand is this: you are responsible to the other players in your box.

This means that you must make every effort to make contact with the other players in your box at the beginning of the month.

Do not wait. Do not hesitate. Don't be shy. Do this immediately.

Send everyone in your box a friendly email telling them when and where you are willing to play. If you expect your time to be tight this month, be clear about that.

Box league players are also expected to return phone messages and respond to email messages promptly.

Treat every member of your box as you wish to be treated. Take them seriously. Do your best to answer their questions and make an appointment early in the month.

Be clear about the challenges you are facing. If you are going to be away, tell them. If you are battling an injury, tell them. If you need to get new shoes or restring your racquet, tell them.

Do not be mysterious or evasive.

Communicate. Communicate. Communicate.

Nothing is more frustrating for a box league player than being in a box with a BLBH -- a box league black hole. Unanswered emails and phone calls harm your reputation. This is especially true for new players.

People join box leagues because they want to play. Box league players who communicate clearly and promptly are amongst the most popular players in our network.
